October is a good month for a scary book. We have a huge Halloween section of books for our younger patrons. Today I thought I would let you in a few scary chapter books for older kids.
Doll Bones by Black. Three friends must bury a haunted doll in order for a wayward spirit to rest in peace.
Coraline by Gaiman. After moving into her family's new house, Coraline discovers a door that leads to a sinister parallel universe.
Scary Stores to Tell in the Dark by Schwartz. A collection of chilling stories that are perfect to tell at sleepovers, around a campfire or in a dark, dark room.
The Ghost of the Charlotte Lighthouse by Valentine. A fourth grade class wants to save an abandoned lighthouse, but discover that it may contain more than dust and cobwebs.
Titanic Locket by Weyn. A locket recovered from the wreck of the Titanic unleashes some ghostly activity on the maiden voyage of the replica of the doomed ocean liner.
Scary Places- Dark Mansions by Williams. There are several books in the Scary Places series. Learn what makes these places haunted and scary.
Creepover books by Night. Go to sleep...if you dare, because you're invited to a creepover!
